Bramley Grange Primary School, based in Rotherham, approached Idea Creative Design Studio needing a logo and brand design for their newly established Trust.
The branding project aimed to create an environment that inspired positivity and highlighted The Grange Trust’s vibrant learning community through the use of impactful design, professional photography, and printed marketing material.
The branding project is a continual project within the Trust, always looking for new ways to promote and reinforce the values and ethos that the Trust instils in its pupils.

Logo and Brand Design

The first step of the branding project was to create the logo mark for The Grange Trust. It was vital to create a logo mark that was easy to scale so that it could be used on a whole range of marketing material, school uniforms and signage throughout the school’s premises.
When creating the logo mark, we opted to use only a few colours and a simple graphic so that it could be replicated with ease and remain consistent wherever and whatever the logo was placed on.
The icon used in the logo mark represents a grange while also creating the form of a ‘G’, to help reinforce the grange message. The colours used are bright yellow and royal blue. These colours compliment each other while reinforcing the values of The Grange Trust as a vibrant learning community.

The next step of the branding project was to create a professional online presence for the Trust. The website plays an important role in keeping parents up to date with term times, activity schedules as well as important information regarding the school and its staff.
The website acts as a 24 hours a day, 365 days a year information platform for parents and the first port of call for any parent who’s interested in having their child attend The Grange Trust. Once parents are viewing the website, they can get a sense of the vibrant learning environment the Trust provides, as well as reinforcing the values and ethos that it instils in its pupils.
RESPONSIVE WEBSITE FOR PHONES AND TABLETS
Today, more than half of all web traffic is mobile. This is why it was paramount that The Grange Trust’s website was made responsive, to cater for smartphones and mobile devices.
Once we had built the main desktop website, we created versions for both tablet and mobile, making sure that the website is always visible to its users.
This responsive design ensures that no matter what device the website is viewed on, the website will always display correctly and be optimised for each device, giving a seamless user experience.
The website is a CMS (Content Management System) which allows The Grange Trust to create and manage their own website content. This gives them the flexibility to maintain their website and make content changes as and when they need to.
PARENT HANDBOOKS

As part of a child attending the school, The Grange Trust provide a handbook for the parents which outlines the values of the school, the expectations the Trust has of the parents and children, as well as general information about the school and staff.
The handbook also includes pupil information forms for the parents to complete in order for them to have their child attend the school. Other pages include parental approval forms, pupil consent forms and data protection forms.
This handbook was designed using The Grange Trust’s colour palette, along with impactful typography, graphics and photography to give an informative and strong visual impression that’s consistent with the rest of the Grange Trust’s branding.
STAFF PLANNERS

The Grange Trust’s staff were using ‘off the shelf’ planners which they felt were overly complicated and included irrelevant pages. The Grange Trust asked us to create a custom staff planner that was completely unique to their Trust and its staff.
These staff planners include 100 custom pages that show term times, vision statements, key dates, key policies and teaching aids, as well as useful information and codes of conduct. These planners also provide a day to day planner section which shows a week per page. Each page has lined sections for each day where staff can write any notes or tasks to do.
The planners also come wiro-bound and with a polypropylene cover which makes them very hard-wearing and durable.
SCHOOL RULES POSTERS

As part of creating a positive learning environment, we also created some simple posters that are placed around the school, outlining basic rules for pupils to follow.
These school rules posters help to reinforce your schools rules on a daily basis. These types of posters act as an influence on the day to day lives of the pupils helping them to be respectful, safe and kind to others around them.
These posters are A4 in size and come with mounting brackets and a glass cover so that the important messages are kept safe and are long-lasting.
Cool Kids Club Graphic and Flyers

The Grange Trust offers extracurricular activities to its pupils before and after the school day. As part of this, we were asked to create a graphic for their new ‘Cool Kids Club’ activity group. The graphic helps to reinforce the aims of the club, creating a fun, engaging and active environment for pupils who attend the club.
As part of the club’s promotion, we created a flyer that lists all of the activities on offer along with the related prices. This flyer has been distributed to parents and the school has seen a large number of its pupils attending the club, before and after the school day.
SCHOOL PROSPECTUS

As part of the main branding of The Grange Trust, we created a 12-page prospectus that shows information about the school along with its curriculum.
The prospectus helps parents to get an insight into the atmosphere, ethos and values of the school as well as what to expect once the child attends school.
The design of the prospectus incorporates the bright yellow and blue of The Grange Trust’s branding as well as using impactful typography and professional photography to help reinforce the message of the Trust, showing that it’s a vibrant learning community and a positive environment for its pupils.
VISION STATEMENT POSTERS

Creating a positive environment for the pupils and staff has been an important factor in The Grange Trust’s branding project. To keep pupils and staff inspired and in line with the Trust’s vision, we created a set of vision statement posters that are displayed around the school. They’re also a great way to let parents and visitors know how the school carries itself, along with key messages to reinforce its goals.
These vision statement posters list various points to show how they intend to implement an excellent educational experience for its pupils. The poster is also backed up by a graphic that was created as a separate project known as ‘Bramley Beliefs’. These beliefs encourage pupils to be independent, respectful, motivated and resilient.
SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY

In order to show The Grange Trust’s positive environment and atmosphere, we did several photography sessions at the school. During these photography sessions, we captured images of the pupils, staff and their learning environments to show how uplifting the school and its pupils are.
These images really captured the atmosphere at the Trust as a positive, friendly and uplifting place to learn. The bright yellow of their branding was used across the uniform and it reinforces the brand style that has been created, giving a seamless, strong and consistent brand that reflects the original aims that were set out at the very beginning of the project.
